    Exclamation M42 No Decal Help

I found this one for $375. Here is the sellers description:

"This one has defiantly been there, and has put some time. The exterior of the helmet has most of the paint intact with just a little bit missing from the top. The chinstrap is there, but has broken away on the side. There is a maker mark on the tip of the strap. Over all a nice combat veteran that has the been there look."

Is it strange that the chinstrap is dated 1940?, or is that because they had extras in supply?

    I am assuming its original.

Is this blood? Blood darkens and rots the leather.... many with blood look almost like they have been burned.

I have outlined the questionable areas:

No it is not blood, just old leather that has deteriroated over the years from poor storage and handeling.
The helmet seems to be a good model 42 no decal.

Good no decal helmets are drying up.

Nice helmet. The chinstrap could have been added at anytime, it is really impossible to tell.

    Cheers, Ade.
