M42 Purchase I made today...took a 275$ risk!

I purchased this knowing full on I was taking a risk...I didn't expect to find it where I found it...it just kinda fell into my lap while searching the last of 6 antique stores in Nowheresville VA today. I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to post photos with the mobile version of the website so I just went with it.

The elderly woman behind the counter said it was part of an estate sale that they purchased from a woman who's father had recently passed.

If it's genuine, it's a nice non-decal M-42.
Can't speak on authenticity, but personally I like it.

Looks like a legit ND M42 to me as well.
Hopefully, the "experts" will chime in.
Doesn't belong in the SS helmet section so I have moved it to the correct area.

Jim of course is right! This is a very nice example. AND I agree, that is a bargain basement price. You got lucky. But luck will not always be on your side. Post before you buy until you have the skills to know yourself

As far as the strap. There is the possibility that this helmet was never issued and thus didn't have a strap. It seems in near mint condition and the little staining on the liner may just be from years of handling.

I agree and I knew I was taking a huge risk...I just felt it was worth the risk...like all the stars aligned on this find
