Looks a nice named M42 Joe - I see no probs with a scratched off decal - done post war for all the RIGHT reasons! adds to the legitimacy of it IMO.

Thanks Joe for posting my seller pics while I am having internet issues,lol ......once I get the lid, I will take better quality pics guys and repost. Any thoughts on the decal being field removed by original soldier as opposed to Vet removed? I can't wait to get it, paint looks really nice !!!!!!
You will never know the answer to that one: it can be whatever you want it to be! The rust patina has some age to it which matches the paint loss areas to the inside.

Ade is correct. You may never know. Could go either way. Good possibility it was wartime done. Still a good looking helmet.
