Did you take it apart? Any particular reason?
Later in the war many of the manufacturers moved the maker/size stamp to the rear.
I don't see any reason why there might be an issue with the date of the pins, just using up the inventory....
Only one + year apart in date.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

I hope for your sake the pins and liner were removed before you bought it..

the rivets are dead straight so it seems they were never in that helmet ?
The makers mark is normal.

I hope your right about the pins! The makers mark is fine but I really fear that this has been dismantled out of curiosity. Leon.

The dates aren't that critical.
Either way, this one isn't an "untouched" original.
It is either a put together piece, or has been taken apart for some reason.

No, i haven't bought it. But i have bid for it on e-bay where its being advertised as an original wartime M-42. Should i retract my bid?

Rivets with that maker's mark and date are sold as reproduction on most helmet restoration sites, just FYI.
Here's an example:

Good point ObKrieger. Might explain why they are dead straight.

Personally, if it were me, I would not want it.
But if you can live with it, knowing that it has at the very least been
disassembled as the photo of the pins is evidence of, and the price is
very good, go for it.
