I'd say postwar applied and faux aged, look at the rust how it has "run" from underneath the liner pins down the side of the helmet. An mild acidic spray used to "rust" the helmet perhaps, and red rust is active rust, typically a sign of attempts to age the paint via chemical means.
This helmet - based on what's been shown - should not be in a serious collection.
Thanks Doug !!
That what's i thought !
better pass on this one!
Hi , Doug is spot on , the wear also looks contrived as there are some very equal sized "tool marks" on the paint work. A ruined M42 in my eye's, Leon.
thanks Leon !
confirm my doubt !
Fresh rust. Not one to purchase has original.
Ok thanks a lot !
I know what to do now !
Best wishes!
Good you got saved from this one
Those winter cammo's are a minefield and hard to authenticate unless known where they came from for sure I think my collegues are right on it though I would pass. timothy
Yeah, pass on this. Unfortunate. If one could remove the fake white paint, I bet there is a nice M42 ND underneath it...
