The paint I would say the grayish paint looks original & over the years other colour has been added or stuff has been spillt on it.

Would really need an all over look/better pic's when you get it to be sure of what to do with it just DO NOT!!! touch the decal

well that's either filler under that Grey paint or just very thickly applied paint thats where i would start first strip it

well if you strip it it looks like its more filler then helmet, looks to have been a relic helmet that someone has done a very poor job on it to restore it in some way that makes me wonder about the decal???

there is some brown like the first zoom picture
that was te original pait some sort of leatherbrown witch i hardly belive
never seen a leatherbrown ( S.A.) helmet before
