    Default Newly acquired M35

The last time a posted a new purchase, the forum folks unanimously declared it a fake and I was able to get my money back.......thanks. I just made another purchase and hope this M35 is legit. It has NS 64 stamped on the side and D240 on the back. It also has an inspection mark on the inside dome. The liner seems to have been food for few mice. It looks like it has been repainted in a textured finish (see brushstrokes). I can faintly see where a decal used to be under the vent. One side looks like it got too close to some white spray paint. Do you think the decal is still under the textured paint? Any good way to remove the spray paint spots w/o messing up the original paint? Thanks!

An honest late war reissue repainted model 35 manufactured by Vereinigte Deutsche Nicklewerke, AG Schwerte.
    A good helmet.

maybe some paint thinner used carefully will help in removing those spots...

How would one carefully resurrect a painted-over decal (assuming it exists)? Or should that even be considered?

    Hi Pablo,

From my limited time with helmets, I'd suggest leaving your helmet as it be. Your helmet is a re-issue M35! The painted over decal is part of its charm and character and even more-so a part of its history! Your helmet is great as it is!

    Just my two cents

    Hey Pablo,
I would not mess with the decal. I thought about doing same thing to my reissued m35. The national color decal was covered. I asked a friend and expert on wwII German helmets. He told me to don't even try, you can seriously hurt the value of the helmet because it will be a "messed with helmet".

Forbid it happens, but you can mess up.

Good honest lid, don't touch it......you know the decal is there anyway...

Dont liberate the decal, that is destroying your helmet and its history.
