Not so convinced...

Article about: Helmets are fake of the easiest kind. Good solid shells pop up now and again.

I was browsing along Craigslist; as I usually do, and came along a peculiar post which included some fishy looking German helmets. Everything about these helmets seems to jump out at me, especially the decals. Is my suspicion well placed?

The price seemed peculiar as well, as I will reveal soon.

They are junk! They appear to be original shells with fake paint and decals.

Your gut instinct is correct. Avoid these.

I feared so, what a shame :/ I am sure that the visors he is selling are fake as well. He claimed them to be authentic as well. Well then, now that that's settled: Vintage Military Helmets and Dress Hats

It is easy ( and safe ) for a seller to say "authentic" even if they are repainted / re-decal'd / re-lined etc ..... as only ONE aspect has to be original..... such is the English language, I'm afraid - and, he is sadly, within the law.

If he had said "original untouched" then that is a completely different matter legally.

The hats appear to be modern originals- not WWII-era pieces.

......$100 ain't too bad for original shells and postwar paint/decals is it?

i mean the hats alone might be $40-$50

    then add two original helmets

    I'd buy it anyway.

I was going to suggest that, but the M40 appears to have some holes in it. That's a major turn-off for me and just about anyone who would ever be interested in buying a shell to restore. :/

I would save my money for better things, but in the end it's up to you.
    Just my 2 cents.
