Bob/Anders/Jim et al, are there others known with this eagle?
Hi Doug-
I have seen three others identical to this example, which is by far in the best condition. They all seem to be exclusive to Gau Sachsen. Back in the late 1960's, Ray Zyla of Mohawk Arms bought a huge grouping of material that a vet had taken out of a AHS. There were over 100 schiffen all properly stamped AHS. Among the grouping was a M34 and a M35 with identical decals. I owned the M34. They likely were issued to political leaders stationed at the AHS. Both are illustrated on the old headgear book by Stan Bozich, which was published in the late 1960's.

Hi Doug, I have been fortunate enough to have seen 4 Political Leaders helmets in hand (Al B./ J. G./Jules L. and one I could have purchased from Bill Shea back in 1994 which, regrettably, I passed on), and along with Bob's/Ander's example and pictures 2 or 3 others that I have seen, I can say that all have had this Eagle. When I commented on the orientation of the head (looking to the bird's left, as opposed to the Police Adler decal, on which the bird is looking to its right) Jules pointed out the obvious, which had been missed by me, i.e. the Political Adler goes on the right side of these helmets, so the bird has its head turned so it would be looking forward. These are truly rare birds (pun intended), and I hope to find one one day. Jim G.

Interesting alex, and welcome! You should make a separate thread in detail on this. It looks like it was repainted green later in the war.
Yes, nice and very rare!
Looks the part but the Teddy Bear is a repro and post war I am afraid.
