Good one.
Robocops helmet was actually modelled after a late war Fallschirmjäger prototype helmet, which came to late to be introduced to the ranks. Sort of like the late war prototype Wehrmacht helmet, which became the trademark helmet for the DDR.
When Göring saw the prototype Fallschirmjäger helmet, he did manage to have a platinum helmet made. This was a vet bring-back from Berlin, which was later sold at the Snyder site and then ended up in Hollyweird.
Ahh, who am I kidding - the Fallschirm Feurschütz version was better. Now where is my Dremel.......!

Re: OMG!!! What Next?!!!!!
This one was actually owned by Otto S., and he wore it while rescuing Il Duche! Don't pass this gem up!

Re: OMG!!! What Next?!!!!!
Despite knowing I shouldn't, and the fact, this thing makes my eyes hurt, I keep coming back to look at this
monstrosity. It has a strange power over me it would seem, plus I like to read all the nice comments about it
Makes me smile, and cringe at the same time.

It's indeed pretty implausible that a paratrooper would even spend his time doing this. Just to blend in with the rest. The design of their helmets was clearly so to make a parachute jump.
Sellers and their stories...
The F/J's were dying like flies in Normandy at the hands of the Allies, so there were plenty of M38 helmets from fallen comrades to be used by replacements if they didn't want to use regular combat lids. The story doesn't hold water. I saw a whole crate full of cut down Spanish Modelo Z's at a militaria shop about 20 years ago. The story was that they were for Spanish volunteers who wanted to fight with the F/J's. The story, like the helmets, was simply merde. Jim G.

Re: OMG!!! What Next?!!!!!
Even I, can tell you, that there is something wrong about that helmet. Shame that they have destroyed a Luftschuts helmet.
All the best
