Default Opinion on authenticity of German Steel helmet

I found this today in Florida in an attic,i do HVAC work,so I almost fell over when i saw it,I dont have experience with helmets, however Im pretty sure it is a fake, my observations are
    1. Runes are on wrong side of helmet
    2. The decals dont jive with the condition of the paint,no scrathes
    3. Never saw paint under the lid of a different color/tan,not close to Africa campaign
    4. I cant find any markings or stamps inside
    5. 2 holes in the center front of the helmet
So can anybody tell me if the shell is real, maybe re purposed after the war
Thank you for helpOpinion on authenticity of German Steel helmetOpinion on authenticity of German Steel helmetOpinion on authenticity of German Steel helmetOpinion on authenticity of German Steel helmetOpinion on authenticity of German Steel helmetOpinion on authenticity of German Steel helmetOpinion on authenticity of German Steel helmet

IMO not even the shell is period original. You were right in your observations. However, let's wait for other (more valuable) opinions

You are correct, bad decals and It may from the inside color have been a Luftwaffe helmet in the past. .

Sigh .... don't know where to start. ( Having an "each way" bet with BOTH Heer & SS is funny sh*t, eh? )

Hi, looks like an ex Luftwaffe M35 shell that's been re-painted, sadly next to no value either monetary or historically is left, but as you got it for free that's no problem. Leon.

What a shame! Could of been a fantastic find if it were genuine.

Bad decals and repainted shell... Lucky you didn't spend any money on it.
