Helmet identification is not one of my strongest knowledge areas. So I would like to get some feedback from the board on this helmet. I can take more photos if needed... Any and all opinions welcome as to the authenticy of this helmet, original or parts helmet, branch, model and approx value.

    Thank you.

Unfortunately IMO, even if it was a good M42, someone has taken out
the liner - God knows why - just to show everyone the markings ? ! ?
It has instantly become a 'Messed With' helmet which should cut
any value in half and destroy any serious collector interest.

I don't know about the decal or the originality of the liner,
but the 'camo' is most probably post-war applied.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Thanks for that Steve and see your point. Unfortunately this is the condition that I acquired it in.

What approx value do you estimate this helmet having now.

Not for me unless dirt cheap I'm afraid. The camo is bad I feel but I am not 100% on the decal as the pics are too bad really to judge it, probably also bad though.

This just has parts value now, liner and shell which would be minimal value because of the fake paint and decal that would require stripping.

I agree , fake decal and repainted shell. I doubt even the leather of the liner is original. No real collector value but maybe some kid would be interested in it.

isnt that 'knife' edge to the helmet instead of a rolled edge, a sign of it being Spanish?

Isn't the liner leather in pic 3 different from the liner in the "egg" on the other pics?

It's an M42 helmet. They had unrolled edges to simplify production.
