It is an original M34 shell - pre-1945.
as to the decal, I will leave to the experts but I think it is ok.
Agreed. Very few fakes fire police helmets, no money in it.

Looks good to me too. It has a nice rough exterior look but still with very nice decals --- overall not bad imo. If you're on a budget and it's cheap... why not!
