Default Q66 M40 Luft with Netting

    Guys,

Here is one I've had in my collection for a few years but never posted as I am very reluctant to handle it given the fragility of the netting.

While salty, it is complete and a one looker and non-questionable netting.

    Q66, Batch # ?48.

Chin strap marked: G. Singer, Klattau 1941.

Underside of helmet liner tab marked W.S.

Netting is also quite unique. It is IMHO field apply by the soldier from some type of scrap material. I've read (don't remember where) that netting with these "knots" on top were from the Belgium area (or somewhere). Not a concern of mine but an interesting tidbit. Would love if someone had an opinion on it.

I hope you enjoy it. I do.

    Michael

P.S. some pics were blurry and didn't notice until after I safely put it away again.

Great lid - but those three remaining attached strands scare the hell outta me!

Put it back in it's airtight chamber before you sneeze & they snap!!

Thanks guys. It is back in the glass case. And that it is where it stays. No more pictures or handling allowed.

Rossi: doing well. Glad to see you around again.

Hi Michael, that is a lovely helmet mate. I have at some time in the past seen one that looked almost identical but I can't remember where or what the sellers description was unfortunately. A shame as it may have shed a bit of light on the netting on yours. Leon.

Thanks Leon. I'm sure somewhere I will get more color on this type of netting.
