Re: QVL66 M42 Mint Unissued?
The pictures are not as good as they could be, there is only about a day left until it goes up for auction so I won't be able to get additional shots. The chinstrap looks original to me, but it very well may be dyed post war.
The description says the helmet has a "brown leather chinstrap and Norwegian replacement liner sized ''58''." and a "later coat of dark gray paint". I see no signs there is any paint beneath the dark gray paint, but it is possible it is there, or it could have been stripped of the original paint and repainted.

Re: QVL66 M42 Mint Unissued?
Whats the starting bid, do they have one? That does not look to be a Norway used liner. I have had a few of those and they are never that "cleaned" of the dye. That liner has not ever been dyed red.

Re: QVL66 M42 Mint Unissued?
Paint colors, chinstraps, liners are not at all consistent on these 44/45 m42's (including all qvL's). I guess they just used whatever was available. Starting bid is $100, no bids yet.

Going by the stamping it is likely a sub factory of the CKL/ET factory.
Brian Ice's book has a lot of theories in it , don't take it for gospel gents.
