From my original post? That's funny!!
Thanks John. Really appreciate the help. Just a couple of letters to go but yet so far....
To me the last letter is an N or R but the letter or two before it is still a mystery. Also it looks like one pad has an additional letter or two

Wow...now that it is solved, in looking back, it almost seems obvious. Thanks SO much for the help.
And yes it looks like there is another name below the first. I think the name might be something close to Holz or Holtz but haven't focused on it yet. The top unit is obviously Sturm 21/2
Once again. Thanks for all the help.
Michael

The Sturm 21/2 would seem to mean something like Sturm 21, Trupp 2 or something relatively close. So, 21st Company, 2nd platoon would be my guess.

Thanks John.
Did this same research a few weeks back and came to the same rough conclusion. Glad to see we're on the same page.
Off to solving the next set of names.
As an aside, I'm also trying to see if I can ID this man. Doubt I will find anything but I did find this nice picture (from here and our member William Kramer. Just another piece of the puzzle).
unknown Edelweiss cap badge - SA Hochland perhaps? SA cap insignia & green enamels too
