Hi
weird wire configuration, your opinions please ..
don't think that sort of wire existed back then!!
I have never seen any pics with this type of wire configuration before..although I have seen same type of wire in a few helmets but never as ellaborate as this one.
The German's used whatever they could find in the field to apply camoflage so really anything goes that look's old and has reacted with metal on Helmet.I have even seen electrical wire with a wriggly pattern in book's as well as brass and copper wire.
If it look's okay and age is consistant leave it there

be very carefull with those comments... It's not just textbook what counts !don't think that sort of wire existed back then!!
I'm not saying this helmet is good, alhough I like the first impression, but I believe it stands a change...
I'm 100% positive that there are quit a lot of 100% good helmets ( items ) sorted in the fake pit that do not belong there !
Its war time, and you will use what ever the hell is nessary to camouflage your self in the field. That is my basic rule about camo's in general
They are all original unless proven fake not the other way around
I mean that thise sort of wire : welled at some places ...was not in production at that time; ....I think.
