Real M40?

Hi Guys

This is the first time I post a thread on the German Helmet forum so I hope you can help.
I have been offered this lot of German field gear including an M40 Helemt which is supposed to belong to the same Vet. Any thoughts on the helmet or other items?

Liner looks like a poor fitting repaint and the helmet has been painted over post war it seems as well. Unless you have some sort of provenance other than "I told you" then I would pass at least on the helmet. I dont know jack about the fieid gear.

Hard to tell from the photo. The shell kind of looks like it is in relic condition. Liner looks goofy - like it was replaced poorly by a novice. Might even be the wrong size liner leather in the band. Looks like the pins are loose too. The field gear all looks legit but I'm certain the gas mask canister has been repainted. It may also have post war straps but kind of hard to tell with the photo. NH

All the field gear looks fine, but the gas mask container looks newer, or a repaint. Unless you want a mess kit and a canteen, I would pass.

Based on what I see of the helmet I would pass , detailed pictures are a must.
