Repainted shell - An original?

I have been offered this helmet for $120. No liner and no visible markings - although the 2nd pic looks like there might be a decal under the paint ? Found in Germany 40 years ago in a bunker. His brother decided to paint it to cover the rust. I would guess it is a little high priced, but look forward to your views.

It's an M42 model that does look original.

The photos will not enlarge for me, and it is hard to make out any detail
at all regarding a decal, but also, decals were not to be used after 1943.

There are black painted helmets coming out of Central Europe these
days that were used by post-war fire departments, etc.
This could be one of those types too.............

120$ is nuts. 7 x 120$ gets you an untouched original wartime helmet.

It appears to be an original Model 42. I would apply the $120 to something better and pass on this one. If it was around $50 it might make a good re-enactor helmet with new liner. NH
