I rescued this German like bikers helmet today.
It was no brainer (costed about 1,5 EURO) but now I am puzzled ...
no rivets/gromets but there is serial number W 3683 and size ET66.
Under black paint there is red and bit of green.
Bikers had some fun with holes and attachment.

So what do you think... who made it?

ET would be Eisenhüttenwerke Thale. 66 is a fairly large size. You must ask yourself do you want to keep it as is - a novelty biker item - or attempt to restore? If it had some hippy era slogans or peace sign on it I would keep it as a post-war period piece. It is very plain and clearly butchered up a bit. Probably not worth a major restoration attempt. Still, quite inexpensive for a novelty piece. NH

Hi, sorry, i did not mention that it is indeed made by Eisenhuttenwerke Thale as Neil states above. The gromets were probably removed post war before it's "re-furb". Leon.

Thank you for your answer, I would love to know what type it is.
    Restoration ... don't think so.
I will stay this way, as I have too much holes.
Is there a way to remove paint and keep things under black stuff.
    Cool piece for sure!
