Have a look. This one oozes the battlefield look. My new M42, no decal, ckl64 Lot# 408. I understand that lot# to be early on in production of M42's, but no decal on this one? There is green paint along the edge of the liner, showing a possible repaint at some point, maybe removal of the decal at the same time? Liner appears original to this helmet and has definitely seen some use with dryness on the edges and some cracked areas at the front, original drawstring. Split pins don't look to have been messed with. Very good ET/ckl dome stamp. Reproduction chinstrap. Liner band marked B&C Litzmannstadt 1942. I think I might be holding onto this one for a while

Very nice looking M42 - I like it.

The strap must have been left outside a year or so
to get the buckle to rust up like that.........!
    Regards,

    Steve.

Yes, it must have! And even as a repro strap, it fits the caracter and used look of the helmet very well, I think, which is why it's still on there.

It does indeed fit the character of the lid.
I'd be inclined to leave it on.........

I like these combat worn M42's - a nice one indeed. Leave the strap on, it looks fine. Jim G.

Yep, the strap is staying on. I have an M42 that did not see as much use as this did. They will look good together side by side.

Honestly I'd try to replace it with a period strap. But that's just moi! Nice salty M42!

I prefer to do that Doug, I have a few period straps, just never sure which helmets i want to use them on, lol.
