Here some nice M42 I bought in 2009!
The inside of the helmet liner is serious blood dries up in the leather, the story goes that this helmet was taken by a GI who shot the owner of this helmet in the fase!
The leather has some serious blood stains in the front and the back.
The inside is real nice and the rim of the helmet is named wiht Steiniger scratched into the metal.
Anyway 100% original paint, some small part with combats scratsches!
The decal is also near 100% with a small chip in the left wing.
    Chinstrap is original!

    Model 42
    Ckl66
    Number 2531
    Eisenhuttenwerke
Under and up the leahter stamps B56 *30* 58
Helm named *Steininger* scratched into the metal.

I like the helmet but not the story, the blood stains suggest a through and through shot but the angle is all wrong, where is the hole to the helmet, the main blood stain pools downwards which suggests the entry hole should be midway to the centre front of the helmet, the stain at the rear would also suggest this, either the story is inaccurate or the stains had been added some time ago, also there is no hole to the front of the liner, again doubtful as to the story

He was shot in the face, where else should the blood come from!

He may have fallen over backward, and the blood slowly seeped down, he can also immediately helped his comrades and his helmet off done!
    Several theories!

It is a decent model 42 single decal army helmet.
A nice one for any collection.

I agree. Blood stain is very plausible since he was supposed to be shot in the face. Looks to me like blood that has been there for a long while. Nice pick up.
