Nothing too unusual here, an ET68 1113 army helmet. Fairly clean and again from the Island of Jersey. Once again this helmet has had a light wipeover with an oily rag just to brighten up the paintwork. The shiny effect dulls down after a week or so and I feel it does not harm every now and again.

Some people reckon oil can damage the paint, you may be better off using beeswax. Nice helmet!..

    Hi Gunny,
I have heard of beeswax being used, but I just can't catch enough of the little buggers to get enough to do a whole helmet. Seriously though, I use oil on them once every 2 to 3 years, and lightly, and then wipe over it with a clean cloth to remove the excess. I leave the liners alone as you can cause real problems for yourself by messing with them especially if they are dry.

Nice helmet however I would advise against using any oils on the helmet surface for the simple reason that it is not necessary when stored in a good environment. Bringing out the paint that way also makes the pictures come out for the worse in my opinion.

Yes they are too shiny, maybe I should have left well alone or taken the pictures after a week or so.

Killer helmet. That will be hard to upgrade, if it can be done at all.
