SS / luftwaffe Helmet review

Hello friends!
Longtime no talk, this helmet had past through my hands (its a SS helmet)

Is this a authentic piece? why does this have SS runes on one side and Luftwaffe decal on the other? I used a high power jewlers loupe to the decals (especially the SS one) I cant see any dotting that you would see on fakes. Please take a look at the pictures let me know what your consensus is on this, My thinking its a really old replica M1942 model but I am not a professional. Thanks for knowledge and professionalism gentlemen.

I kind of thought so. He was trying to sell this at a WWI military show here for $5000.00 USD. He wasn't getting any bites but I thought I would take a few pictures while he wasn't looking. Thankyou Chris

Lol - the shell has indeed been messed with. Not worth much.
Perhaps it was a Luft lid originally.........

This is thing, WE ARE AT A WWI SHOW!! Lol! He's trying sell this here we aren't selling anything we are just doing a living history event and this guy pulls out this lid! Wrong Era friend!. I am happy you guys are evaluating this, I am set up right next to him listening to his wonderful marketing pitches. Thanks Steve.

I have no idea if hes showing up tomarrow, However the word Chancer is spot-on. Before I packed up for the day we had a little talk with the organizer, he will have to pawn his junk somewhere else.
