Hello. This stamp in the dome of my M42 no decal Heer helmet - what was it used for and what does it say? I cant really get a clearer photo of it at the moment, sorry. TIA.

it is a domestamp and means the final quality check was made then and then, type in googel picture search dome stamp and you can see some versions to compare

Thanks. It´s just that I can´t really spot the letters and words as most seem to be missing. On those I´ve seen photos of online today, the shape of the stamps are oval and this one seems to be a square shape or something. Also half of the stamp is missing

This stamp is typically found on ET/ckl M42 helmets.

The text on dome stamps is more or less the same apart from the manufacturer location or Roman numeral (in early stamps).

There are two line of thoughts , one says only a certain nr of a batch received a dome stamp. The other one is that all helmets received them. I think all helmets received them as I have observered more than 70% having dome stamps , some are very hard to see.
