Strange painting on my M40 helmet.

Hi,

I would like to ask some help.
I have got a M40 with some remains of a very light green painting on it. I think it is some base paint. It is fixed very well to the shell, and it seems to me quite thick.
Could it be something original?

Looks more like white to me that has just gotten very tone over the years from being in the ground

Odd shade. Could be white that has toned, but it is very uniform for that I think. It's certainly no dunkelgelb either.
