Thanks for the info.I looked at the sites you referenced but I just don't have an experienced enough
Eye to judge if mine is a fake or not.Hopefully a chinstrap expert can help me out.

Does it smell of leather at all? If really 75 yrs old it should not do.

It does not have a leather smell,but if anything it smells a bit musty.

I would buy it if priced as a fairly worn chin strap. The details look good to me but I lack experience. It does not look like an obvious fake to me.

The sharp number imprint and the thin buckle are always red flags.
For me this chinstrap is a reproduction. I went through my library and other online references I trust and did not find an original strap with this stamp but a lot for sale on dubious websites.
