Can anyone tell me why the second #1 on the lot number looks like it was added post production, totally different type #1 and out of line.

Good question, I agree it looks like an afterthought. Factory paint over the top though, maybe the machine was playing up that day and they had to manually finish the numbers?
It looks like a replacement number wheel in the stamp. The two to the left are worn, and would soon need replacing too. Just my theory.
