Post war Bundeswehr - as to value I don't know as I don't collect them.

It has vents... just no liner rivets. Looks like suspension is anchored at the crown. Odd.

I agree, Post war Bundeswehr helmet dating from around the 1950's looks in pretty good condition but as to its value i wouldn't even hazard a guess, see what the other guys think.

Not Bundeswehr but Bundesgrenzschutz (Border Police) or Police.

The Bundeswehr was not allowed to adopt the symbol of German militarism after WW2. So they adopted a M-1 variant.

The postwar M35/M40 helmets were produced for Police and Bundesgrenzschutz, with and without rivets, with and without vents. There were several types of suspension. Some markings read LS (Linnemann & Schnetzer).

These helmets would do something like Euro 80,- to Euro 100,-.

    Cheers,

    Emile

Emile, Thanks for the information. I knew it was post war due to the liner attachment, but was unaware of the information that you provided. I have a few of the M-1 variants that I picked up at a flea market years ago for $10 each (how can you go wrong?), and always wondered why there were post war German helmets that looked like WWII models AND the M1 look a likes! Now I know. Thanks again. Jim G.
