A very strange looking relic M42 style helmet, i;m not 100% convinced its authentic , its very deformed

It appears to be a real Heer M42 relic that has had a very unfortunate life.

Almost looks like a variation or very small size. I imagine you can't see any marker marks or size?

They did make "toy"helmets for children,complete with original decals in the third reich,do you think this may be one of them?It would explain the odd shape and size!

Is it combat weight?
This I would would think could give an indication of it's original use if a real helmet.It's a funny looking critter that's for sure.
