Looks really cool but I dont really know what it is.

German M42 Shell with liner remnants...The painted eagle is definitely a postwar addition, although somewhat reminiscent of the artwork we encounter on bring-back "GI Trophy" helmets...

As the others have said post war art, the helmet looks like it has its original paint and partial liner and as Glenn said 150 so I think it could be between $150-200.

A good friend of mine who is an advanced collector has a helmet with essentially the same painted insignia on the left side of the shell. We have no idea what it is, but the bird on his piece has been there forever! The next time I am at his house I will try to snap a picture of it an if I do I will add it to this thread. Jim G.

It almost looks like the Spanish eagle that they used during the Spanish civil war minus the crown above eagle
