    Post WWII, possibly using an original M40 shell.

    I do beleive that ths helmet is a postwar M52 West German bordergaurd helmet (Bundesgrenzshutze) worn into the 1970's. It would appear to have a replaced unissued liner to me the helmet split pins do not look the correct style.

    I will attach some photos of two M52's for comparison first time I seen one of these helmets I as well thought it to be Finnish please correct me if I am mistaken.

    The helmet Estland posted is a Finnish M/55. The rivets are the same as in all the M/55 I have seen and the liner appears to be depot changed into new before sent out to be sold. The paintjob is also depot done as they paint them gray (Or Armeijan harmaa as we call it here in Finland), but often leave the insides the color they were before, green or gray.
