I've never understood Ebay's ban on WW2 German items, some get through, some don't. You can show a swastika on a book cover or postage stamps, but not a helmet or even period photographs, with some German items being pulled that have no swastika at all. They must have lost out of millions of dollars over the years. I rarely shop ebay anymore.

I to have noticed that there seem to be many listings showing the swastika lately, I guess they are letting more and more"slip through". After all, they then get the bucks and still get to pipe on about their fantastic moral standards, which as we all know is nothing more than opportunist trash/as and when it suits garbage! Leon.

My a$$ they yanked an NSKK flag pannel i had listed saying it violated thier F'd up policy. All it had on it was a black square of cotton with white numbers. No swastika, no sieg runes, no totenkompfs, no "hail hitler". Ive called them out on thier B.S. Before and they refuse to admit they've made a mistake and dance around the fact that thier "censors" have no idea what theyre actually looking at

You can sell xxxx porn all day long on eBay and kids have access to the images. I still shop on eBay but they are hypocrites. Let me be clear I do not buy the porn. Marty

US Ebay and European Ebay are managed differently...US Ebay is now giving "Buyers" a 6-Month(!!) Return Guarantee on items purchased, which means that quite a few sellers have found themselves unwittingly in the Militaria Rental Business, as the US Seller has no protection...I'll still buy on US Ebay if I see a good deal, but I've lost money selling there so I quit selling...
Nowadays I spend more time and money on Germany's Ebay.de...Better Selection, Competitive Prices, Much better managed, with more detailed search options and equal protection for both buyer & seller...Just my 2 cents, friends...

I wonder how that 6 month return is going to work. The listings vanish after 30 days and even if you type in the item number, many times it is past being able to be shown. 180 days? It seem impossible. And as far as the horror of seeing the much dreaded Swastika while surfing listings go, I have always thought that ridiculous, that an elderly WWII Veteran is not allowed to sell his war relics that he may well have risked his life and even lost blood to obtain and now that he is old and needs money, he cannot sell them? Just shameful...

Ebay dont actually police their site they rely upon suitably incensed and offended ebayers reporting an item then they act. They've always had the exclusion of their blanket ban for books and films because presumably they dont want to take on hollywood in the courts. As i understand it the ban came from british telecom (bt) trying to enter the french market with the liberalisation of telecom de-regulation. What has this to do with ebays ban i hear you say. Tis thus bt also had a auction style site upon which items with swastikas were openly for sale. So far so good. Now the french didnt take kindly to their monopoly being threatened by competition brains were wracked and a solution found. The french took bt to court for allowing items thus adorned to be sold on their site, it being an offence in french law to openly offer for sale these items. BT had three items put to them presumably as test cases and got fined £80000 per item, an not inconsiderable sum with presumably more to come if they didnt take the hint and leave gallic shores. Ebay saw and took note wrapping up the reasoning in the lets not offend anyone blanket whilst as has been pointed out selling porn, gun parts and russian items. feel free to delete if you think this might be actionable.

Ive put a relic helmet with a Heer decal once. First time i didnt cover the decal, it was pulled off. Ok. Second time ive covered the swastika on the eagle using paint app, they still pulled it off for hiding offensive insignia. Third time i didnt even put a pic of that side but rather ive written in the description that it has a decal, and that ill send them individualy to a potential buyer. This time theyve removed it stating that there is no pic of the side and that it can potentialy have offensive insignia on it. lol

Same thing happened to be when I listed a Luftschutz Gladiator w/Decal...They expect Sellers to damage their own property to sell there, lol...
The problem is that they are not at all consistant in applying their stated policy...I also find that -surprisingly- German Ebay.de is more lenient than US Ebay in that a covered Swastika is generally allowed....
