Simple question, right? Looked for answers. Lots of comments saying they are rare. Did all makers make the M40 size 60 helmets?
Many thanks,

According to Frank's lot# data...EF, Q, ET examples he has noted...made them. I don't know about SE & NS. they made size 60 in M35 helmets...so probably size 60 in M40 also.

I have a size 60 police helmet but its an M35. All other 60's that I have come across, and there hasn't been many, have all been M35's. Never seen an M40. If you find one please post a pic.
Hi Mega.
If you download Franks lot# data base...he has each of the makers pinned. The three I referred to. That is where I got my info from. The NS & SE factories...he shows none in an M40. But I found on another forum...M35's made by NS & SE in size 60. Not M40.
For you, because I like you...I will look on my other forum & see what I can find in an M40 & post for you
Here are 2 M40 EF 60, both Luft. I also included a CKL Luft M42 size 60, & an ET Heer M42 size 60. I can get you more if you need it

Each shell size fits two liner sizes, but every size 60 shell I’ve seen has a size 53 liner. Has anyone on here ever seen a size 52 liner in one of these? Kevin
Best I can provide right now. Wool band behind the leather liner. Oval ink stamp inside top of helmet. Liner is dry and brittle. Strap is in slightly better condition. Leather fingers very fragile. Rivets are loose but appear original with no signs of removal.
Is this a rare beast? Is this worth owning?
Anything is worth owning at the right price. One would guess size 60 were the least common. As far as value in the helmet community...the desire for them is not too popular. When seen for sale on occasions, the value is less than a medium/large size shell.
