Re: WW2 German Army Chickenwire M40 Helmet--Real or Fake?
"Don't buy it" is my advice. Not only is the wire modern, this dealer appears to have "enhanced" another helmet with the exact same wire!
I'm seeing more and more of these lately....wrap some wire on it and jack up the price...
On second thought...doesn't this look like a Norwegian reissue?

Artificially aged liner IMO
I would not trust the decals without closer pictures as well.

Re: WW2 German Army Chickenwire M40 Helmet--Real or Fake?
Well the chicken wire appears to be double twist , and thats an indication of put together , plus there is no real age to the metal , the liner appears to have been aged and it looks like the liner ring was removed and then the paint added , liner replaced, not very well, what remains of the decal have no real age to it, ie no toning from what i can see, but much clearer pics needed and closeups

Hi all.
I recently found this tan-colored Army M40 helmet with chickenwire on it on a British militaria website.
Here's the link:

Is it real or fake? First, the online shop doesn't give any indication of its size or maker stamps. Second, something seems rather fishy with the paint... Some help would be appreciated. Thank you!
The chicken wire was put on last week by the looks of it !!
