An Aid to Manufacturer Identification -- Other Langet Designs

Article about: Hi, Not all of us sword collctors stick to purely TR weapons, I for one also like Imperial and Weimar items and am therefore starting a sister thread to An Aid to Manufacturer Identification

    19. Sword 21 by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum and Cie, WK&C, WKC. Crossed Cannon Artillery Officer's Lion Head sword. Although the langets are very identical to Sword 4, the ferrule is of a totally different type and seen on sword 8.

    20. Sword 16 Manufactured by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum and Cie, WK&C, WKC. This is a Bavarian Imperial Army Officer's sword. The langets are semi pointed at their bases and tend to be either patterned or plain and devoid of branch of service insignia.

    25 Sword 139 Although not a langet, cartouches do carry the military insignia of Arm of Service or State etc of the wearer of the sword. They, like langet designs can vary considderably and can aid in the identification of the manufacturer of the sword where no name or logo is shown. Maufactured by the firm of Weyersberg Kirschbaum and Cie, WKC, WK&C. This is a TR Navy Officers sword with a folding guard.

    27. Sword 102 by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum and Cie, WK&C, WKC. Crossed Cannon Artillery Officer's Lion Head sword. Of note are the two vertically aligned holes on the obverse langet meant to take a small badge. Possibly a guard star, cypher or branch badge etc.

    27. Sword 102 by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum and Cie, WK&C, WKC. Crossed Cannon Artillery Officer's Lion Head sword. There is no trade mark on this sword but the blade spine is etched "Weyersberg & Co Solingen". This sword may be Reichswehr or a copy?
