Very nice! I almost like the Knot as much as the sword!

Very nice start to the year JR. Out of interest is this piece entirely nickel plated?
The SS button looks different to what I have seen, it looks slightly bigger (is it bigger than the usual 22mm?), the silver surround looks narrower however the runes look wider.
The condition of the grip and the way the badge is set is fantastic and one of the nicest I have seen for a long while.

Matty,
This is a mid period example, roughly 1937. The ferrules, D ring, and pommel nut are plated steel. the runic button is aluminum. Oops, nickel, composition. I have had a couple with Aluminum over the years as well. I've had one other like this over the years, with the same construction. The runes button is roughly 19.7 MM, both directions.
The contrast of the patina on the steel components, lighter wire wrap, and the nickel runes, gives this degen a unique appealing look to the hilt.
And a little bit extra bonus with the knot.
With the exception of the Dachau swords in which the runes are significantly larger, how the runes button outside circumference is slightly shaped and trimmed, gives the borders of these grip emblems, a slightly different look to them.
