First off sorry but I can only post a link to the sword because I have it on mobile but here it is WW1 German Army officer dress sword with scabbard !!! | eBay Saw this on ebay and it looks good but I noticed that in the hand guard it had two small protrusions. I tried looking for similar examples but could not find any. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks for reading

It appears original but I'm not an edged weapon expert so best wait for others.

That said, the hand guard is cracked. So I would pass on it.

Crusty Eickhorn # 40 with gold plated plain pommel .
    Also resembles a Roon pattern.

No doubt it is quite authentic but wait for more comments.

Of the same opinion as Larry that it's a period original. But the condition IMO is not that good. Not the least of which being that the knucklebow is broken at the top where it goes underneath the pommel back-piece. Best Regards, Fred

I would think the break in the hand guard by the pommel is of more concern than overall fair condition. That devalues it considerably and will effect resale value. These swords are not rare and if it was me, i'd look for a better one.
