Article about: Looking for some assistance identifying this portepee. It has a dark grey leather cord with a green thread in the center. The knot (acorn?) is a tannish color. Thanks in advance for your ass

    Looks to be a Imperial officer knot/portepee 1893 for the state of Saxony-

    Thanks. From what I can see online an Imperial portepee would have a longer or more prominent neck on the top of the knot.

    As I've commented on elsewhere, from the images I'm not as certain that the thread isn't green from having some verdigris from silvered copper wire that has had some corrosion. With the knot to me looking like it might be an earlier example variant before the aluminum wire types. Best Regards, Fred
