Sword 40 (13) The trade mark on the blade of this Cavalry sword is a stamped single squirrel holding a sword over the wording "Eickhorn Solingen". Everything about this sword says Imperial including the pommel, langets, scabbard and blade obverse. Then you look at the trade mark and reverse blade etching which are purely TR. Possibly a family hand down with the reverse blade etched or re etched to reflect the new owner???

    a. Hilt. Cast in gilded brass with the backstrap attached directly to the blade tang. The grip is of wood with shagreen covering and a brass wire wrap.
    b. Obverse Langet. Plain outlined shield encompassing crossed cavalry sabres within a foliage wreath.
    c. Reverse langet. Vertical oval escutcheon within a patterned wreath all on a plain outlined shield.
    d. Pommel. Lion head with red glass eyes.
    e. Blade. Plaited and etched with single full size fullers The etching is attributable to "Kavallerie. Regt. No14" and incorporates a pair of Military Egles in the reverse design.
    f. Scabbard. Standard black steel scabbard with a single fixed ring suspension fitting and loop to the reverse side of the scabbard. This scabbard is not contemporary with the sword if it is purely TR. If it is a hand down family item then it probably is contemporary. It is a good fit for the blade.
    g. Rarety. Rare.
