What Kind of sword is this? Yea I know its German WWII.

Article about: That is what I would expect to see as well. With the marking underneath the langet with an orientation that permits the logo being able to be read holding the sword with the point up instead

Hi Bob, Heer swords came in a myiad of patterns. Often a single makers would offer many different types of grip styles to choose from. These were sold under either as named style, some for example were named after famous Marshals or others via simply an order number. However, all forfilled the same function. None were worn by specific units.

Tom (username "Swordfish") will be able to tell you much more about Heer swords than I as he avidly collects them. Drop him a line.

It was a good original sword. BUT someone has stampted a bogus SS proof mark to the blade which has now killed it.

    Cheers, Ade.

I just picked one up recently. Try going to the Thomas Johnson web site. I was able to confirm the identity of my Eickhorn sword by looking through their catalog. You may also find a similar example on the Wittman offering web site. Both have excellent info on blades.

Yes, as there is no reason for it to be on that sword. Plus the size looks wrong too.

    Cheers, Ade.
