It does look good, but I agree with Kris, the price sounds rather high.

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi Denise, the sword, as already mentioned, is totally original.

At present the Heer sword is being copied in China. The qualty of these fakes is nowhere near as good as an original. Plastic grips with a moulded line down the centre, very poor casting to the hilt/crossguard, terrible makers marks to blade, no gillding, too deep blood groove to blade, etc. I don't have any pics of these fakes but they are horrible!

    Cheers, Ade.

thanks for your help! i figured it had to be a fake cause its on auction in Ireland, didn't think anyone here would be that interested in stuff like that. now if only i wasn't a student and could buy it myself!! begin my collecting

Not my field, .. but I'm surprised to see that the gilding is more or less 100% intact.
Is that reasonably common on these, or should a few signs of rubbing/wear be expected ?

Hi Gary, the gilding on these usually survives really well. It is only on the later made examples that it tends to wear and rub a little.

    Cheers, Ade.
