Smile How to type the German letters äöüß

Hi everybody. I don't know if this topic has already been covered elsewhere or not, but if it hasn't, here goes.

Like most people outside of the German-speaking world, my keyboard doesn't type umlauts (the two dots above the vowel).

I have just found this guidance on the net for those of us without a German keyboard.

Press and hold down the ALT key whilst typing:
    0196 for Ä
    0228 for ä
    0214 for Ö
    0246 for ö
    0220 for Ü
    0252 for ü
    0223 for ß
NB: You must use the numbers keypad and not the numbers above the letters. Also NUM LOCK must be on.

Try it for yourselves, it wörks.

Fortunately my iPad gives the option to add umlauts etc simply by pressing and holding the respective keys on the keyboard.

The WRF requires that you use the correct German spelling for this, namely ääääääää!!
