having an external drive backup is okay but if you suffer a house fire you lose your PC and the external hard drive and its backup files.
Not with Memeo, it is also backed up on line automatically.

for me I stay away from online storage as you don't really know who owns the servers and these are hacked and they close down also

A cloud based solution from one of the many on offer is definitely the way to go

Your personal computing device is much more vunerable to online hacking than your Amazon Cloud account etc but hacking is always a risk in any system. On a windows platform you could use Windows Encrypting File System (EFS) feature to store files in an encrypted format on your cloud storage if the contents are sensitive. Apple Mac users can use Filevault to encrypt sensitive files. I would always encrypt documents with content you wouldn't want a burglar to find on your PC if it is stolen. I don't know what security solutions there are for content on Android phones and tablets but there must be dozens to choose from.
    I collect, therefore I am.
