Hello There, I would first like to say I do not know much about the history and I could be totally in the wrong place so i apologize for that.

I am looking somebody to help me deal with some of my grandfather stuff. A couple of years ago my mother and myself inherited all his war stuff. We have probably have around 1,000 books along with maps and photos. We haven't really had alot of time to sort out alot of it. There is stuff on WW1 and WW2. I was just wondering if anybody knows or has an experience dealing with or selling war books who could give me any advice on how to go about dealing with this stuff. Sadly we would of course love to keep everything but there is so many books they have taken up an entire room.

If anybody has any advice at all it would be appreciated so if you know anything if you can send us a message. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    Hello Lynsey,

    Welcome to the forum!

I suppose the quickest solution would be to find a book dealer who specialises in military books and try to get them to take the lot from you. Obviously, it depends on what you have got, but dealers are always looking for good stock. However, you will probably get the best return financially by selling them yourselves - if you consult BookFinder.com: New & Used Books, Textbooks, Rare Books & Out-of-Print Books you will easily be able to see which books are desirable and valuable and which to discard via a charity shop or whatever. Then you can easily create a seller account on Amazon. If you do go down the dealer route, I think you would still be advised to check the value of what you have via bookfinder. In my experience it is quite common for families to unknowingly offload valuable property in circumstances such as you describe.

I'm afraid I don't know much about maps and photos, but if they are originals from either war they are likely to be desirable and easily sold.

    Regards,

    Philip
