How does one delete private messages?

Go to the far right of the message page and check the box, scroll down to bottom check selected message open up and delete message.

Also when you are in the actual individual message, down at the bottom left there is a box as well

Yes membership has it's privileges , unlimited PM's and interesting sections of the forum are opened up.

before you delete any messages, you can download/save them (member or non member) see pic taken from the bottom left of the mail box. -- applies to the sent items also.
