Well known period pattern - but a lot of fakes of this around.
From this bad pics i would bet this one here is a cast fake.

Can you please try to make sharp Close up pics of the ring - not the fingers :-)
And please a shot from the upsite of the skull - thanks.

Though I'm not saying it's a reproduction as I haven't a clue, the aging certainly does look artificial.

Silver tarnishes but does not generally 'pit' as would say, steel. I'm not fond of this ring, i think it is trying to be a Westwall such as this genuine ground-dug example.

May I ask how many ground dug rings you've actually handled please..
I've only owned about 10 , several silver and rest plated and from my limited experience I see no faults
    Any further comments appreciated.

    As for silver not pitting
Both genuine Honour rings I have had which were both ground finds
Complete with Boyle And Baldes CoAs exhibited pitting
As was mentioned by DB on his CoA
Appears ground dug due to pitting

2.Yes, the tarnish spot may result in a deep pit if not removed, as indicated above. Any spot of tarnish is already a "pit" in that sulfide (most typically) attack has eaten into the metal at least a little bit. Often the "pit" is rather shallow and not noticeable when the sulfide layer is polished away. It is probably best to try to polish tarnish spots out if they are not deep. OTOH, in some cases, as often happens with salt dishes, the pitting is so deep that too much metal would have to be removed to get the pits out. You have to eyeball it when you polish and determine how deep the pit really is.

From internet site regarding Does silver tarnish..
