As a start, the runes are completely the wrong shape! ( like having the VW symbol in a square ) ... it just don't work!

Even if were a private made piece, the jeweler in question would have been frog marched off to a bad boy's "holiday stalag"

Is it possible its just a highly stylized private made piece? This was given to me by a Hungarian man whose brother was in the SS, which leads me to not want to be quick to dismiss it as a fake. The man himself wears a traditional SS ring with the Heinrich Himmler inscription on the inside, which was given to him by his brother after the war.

The ring is an obvious fake...any ring with an RZM mark as you describe is a fake...Original rings are never, EVER marked with an RZM....

Why would a privately made piece display the RZM logo? Why would a ring be RZM marked at all?
The RZM marks are put there by fakers to dupe unsuspecting collectors into thinking that the
piece is genuine.....after all, it is marked, therefore it must be real, right?... Wrong! Use the search
function to look at the multitude of dodgy rings that are around. Any RZM marked ring is 100%
    fake.

Do yourself a favor and quickly dismiss it as a fake.
