French Vichy (Franquist) police buttons 1941-1944

After I missed the Petain guard button, I needed a substitute and found these other rare buttons;

They look great as well. Quite some history to the 'fasces.'

Strange thing is that the 'fasces' keep on coming up on different pre and post war French buttons and insigna's.
And the Belgians had a very simillar insigna for colonial judicial services...

Maybe not so strange. Before it was used during WWII (as a strength through unity symbol), it was a symbol of official jurisdiction and magestirial power.
As you know it has ancients roots back to Rome and even before Rome was powerful.

Ive seen it used on several official buildings in the USA for example.

Yes of course, but what I ment was that when "fasces" were used by a franquist regime during a time periode of a democratic country, they would want to use other things then "fasces"....that could remind to those dark days....
