Hi, as Philippe says, it is original.

However, these are now reproduced for re-enactors, but they are not cheap at $45 each and that is too much for a copy.

    Cheers, Ade.

I've picked up a few of these for under the equivalent of $10 (USD) recently so I just figured maybe they were fakes.

Let me be clear though, the ones I've purchased do NOT look new.....so if faked they are going through a lot of work to not gain much income.......I strongly suspect (99.8%) the one above is legit.

Well, fakers make copies of the items what will sell. If this star costs really $45 it is well worth to fake it. For example take Waffen SS belt buckels - very good copies cost around 20 euros, much less than this red star.

Sure, but then I suppose they would not sell them for less than they could probably be manufactured........the ones I've bought have been that few euros......and not from the same person. I have seen two piece ones which were clearly fake (no detail on the back and riveted fronts).
But nothing close to legit SO FAR.

Still not a good fakes made, comaping to the original - is a big differense. Your is a fine original example.
